sassy disposition

I have never really dated an artist before.  Yes, there have been women who were artistic in one way or another but it did not consume their soul.  (If you are reading this and thinking “What, I am an artist what about me…yes there is the possibility that I have forgotten, oh shit, I take it back.  I have, but not for very long.  Fast forward to the present.  See that towhead strumming that Martin…she’s got talent, passion, and a sassy disposition to match.  I watched her play two songs at open mike last night.  The table in front of me were chatting away until Brindl hit a high note…they stopped their rambling and perked up their ears, as she finished her second song about a love gone wrong. The woman looked at the man and said” she’s really good”.  You can’t fake the truth.

layers upon layers

There are so many tones and layers

Concrete submitting to never ending pull of gravity.

Soften your eyes and have a look around.

Sutro baths

a muslim family walks along the edge of the pool after saying prayers on the beach

The next few posts are all going to be shots from sutro baths.  I grew up in the bay area yet had never visited the baths.  I went there the same day that I shot the fish on the rocks.  I shot two rolls of film…20 shots of 6 by 7.  It originally housed seven different pools and was built by the former mayor of SF.  All that is left today is the concrete and rusting steel.  Take my word for it this place is amazing, do try and make it.

North of Waddell Beach

After catching one of the best waves of my life I climbed up the rocks to get to my truck.  This fish had been swept in during high tide and got caught on the rocks as the tide dropped  ( my best theory).  It was a bit of a shock to see this fish perfectly balanced with it’s arching spine dangling over the edge.  I changed out of my wetsuit got my camera and climbed back down the rocks in search of the fish.  It took me a while to find, I had to go down to the beach and retrace my path up the rocky embankment.  As you can see I found her.  After taking a few photos I parked my butt on a rock and gave 26 minutes to the infinite.  There is a payment for everything.

Snail Mail

Sausalito mail boxes

This one goes out to all those  people who still enjoy licking stamps.  Have you ever tried to find a mailbox in a town you are not familiar with?  It is becoming quite difficult to find those blue boxes of magical transport.  Enjoy it while you can…dying art my friends, dying art.

Gangster

The year was 94, possibly 95.  Amy and I had driven down to Santa Barbra, not sure why.  I do remember sneaking into the dorms which were empty due to summer vacation.  The rooms were set up down a long hallway with two rooms sharing one bathroom.  Early the next morning we woke up to some construction workers beginning their day.  We quickly gathered our stuff and creep out the door, laughing as we went.  We came across this mural a bit later on and Amy gave her best gangster impression.  Good times good times.
