Raised in Northern California, Matt Patterson began his career shooting the Bay Area skate scene. For a few years after graduating from San Jose State, Matt gave in to his wanderlust and traveled throughout Europe, South Asia, New Zealand and Australia, as well as across the American landscape. He loves driving cross country and believes in serendipity, like the time he saw three high school kids near an abandoned train depot in Utah, but they took off before he could take their picture. Five hours later he found them on the other side of the Salt Flats at magic hour.
Matt's commercial clients include museums, galleries and publications. He's adept at shooting people, places and things in digital and film. For his personal work he prefers medium-format film. He recently settled in Denver with his wife, and while he misses the Pacific Ocean, the garage studio/woodshop is helping with the transition.
